Experiential Learning

Experiential learning, often dubbed as ‘Learning by Doing,’ is a pedagogical approach that actively involves students in their learning journey. Project Based Learning

Engaging in Project-Based Learning, our school aims to foster profound content knowledge alongside critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills among students. This dynamic educational approach entails students delving into concepts, ideas, or problems for extended durations, actively engaging in research, problem-solving, innovation, creation, and presentation.

Throughout the academic year, our students immerse themselves in a variety of projects spanning diverse subjects such as economics, environmental studies, technology, social issues, and politics. Collaborating in groups, they tackle tasks ranging from designing costumes and composing music to crafting PowerPoint presentations. This immersive methodology not only deepens their understanding of the subject matter but also cultivates essential skills vital for their academic and personal growth.

At K.R. Mangalam, we offer experiential learning opportunities through a diverse range of activities:

  • Float & Sink: Kindergarten students participate in the Float & Sink activity to grasp the concept of weight. By observing and experimenting, they learn that lighter objects float while heavier ones sink, reinforcing their understanding of pre-number concepts.
  • Active Experimentation: Our primary school curriculum emphasises active experimentation through various engaging activities such as Fun with Factors, Make Your Own Map, Role Play, Scavenger Hunt, Talk Show, Kitchen Science, Presentation of the Seven Wonders of the World, and Magical Science Experiments. These hands-on experiences encourage students to explore, discover, and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts within the school environment.
  • Grammar is Fun: Language serves as the conduit for expressing ideas and thoughts, enabling students to organise and interpret the myriad impressions received through their senses.Exploring various parts of speech became an adventure with the ‘hopscotch’ activity, where students used specific examples to grasp grammatical concepts. Additionally, the interactive session titled ‘Once Upon a Pronoun’ challenged students to discern pronouns by immersing themselves in their favourite stories. Embracing an activity-based approach to grammar proved highly effective in honing students’ linguistic skills, making grammar not just educational, but enjoyable too!
  • English Activity: Monologue Exploration– In a dynamic English activity, Grade VIII students were empowered to choose monologues that resonated deeply with them. Drawing from a plethora of sources including plays, movies, books, and even original compositions, participants selected monologues that promised to stretch their emotional boundaries and facilitate profound character exploration.Prior to delving into rehearsals, students undertook a comprehensive journey of character analysis. They delved into the intricacies of their chosen characters’ backgrounds, motivations, emotions, and interpersonal relationships. Moreover, they meticulously grasped the contextual nuances of the scenes in which their monologues were situated, thereby encouraging a profound understanding of their characters’ objectives.The culmination of this endeavour manifested in captivating live performances. With a keen focus on tone, intonation, body language, and eye contact, students adeptly conveyed the emotions and intentions of their characters.
  • Comic Strip Creation: Exploring Cybersecurity with Creativity: In another engaging activity, students ventured into the realm of cybercrime awareness through the creation of comic strips. Their artistic talents were unleashed as they ingeniously depicted various cybercrimes and the ensuing conversations with Cyber Gurus who provided solutions in a lighthearted manner. This creative initiative not only aimed to deepen students’ understanding of cybersecurity concepts but also served as a platform for them to showcase their artistic prowess. Through this activity, students not only honed their artistic skills but also gained valuable insights into the importance of online safety in today’s digital age.

Personal Social and Physical Education (PSPE)

At KRM, we are committed to nurturing the holistic well-being of our students, encompassing their personal, social, and physical dimensions. Through our comprehensive PSPE program, we cultivate essential concepts, knowledge, and attitudes that contribute to their overall wellness.
